Floyd William Murray (Petey) was born on March 8, 1956 to Floyd Clifford Murray and Alma (Bailey) Murray in Cleveland, OH.
Petey, as he was known to family, was educated in Cleveland Public Schools and was a member of the wrestling team where he received several awards. Petey was a naturally talented individual. He was laid back and funny. He excelled in any and everything he put his mind to. He loved being active and playing sports. Petey enjoyed roller skating at Blue Goose, playing basketball at Woodhill Park or Fairfax Recreation Center and dancing wherever he heard music. Petey and his sister Edie, along with a childhood friend, formed a dance group in high school and performed in the school talent show. He had an infectious personality and loved to laugh and flash that trademark smile. In recent years, you could catch him on the porch with his cousin, Denise Thompson, eating breakfast or lunch. Denise took care of him during his illness before he went into a health care facility. He will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him.
