Joan "Nanny" Lee Samalot

Joan was born on August 6, 1938 in Columbus Ohio, one of nine children, the daughter of Marian Marie Belknap. She moved to Cleveland when she was a teenager, and resided there for the rest of her life. She battled cancer twice and fought her second battle until she passed on October 18, 2023 with grace, courage and dignity.

Nanny is the beloved mother of her only child, Maria V. (Ramon) Pabon; cherished grandmother of Melissa Cruz, Yolanda Cruz and Veronica Pabon; adored great-grandmother of Summer Cruz, Demitrious (Eleanore) Thomas, Anthony Cruz, Autumn Cruz and Luis Cruz.

Nanny loved her family very much. She also loved to dance, camp, travel, bring humor to any situation, listen without judgement, show love, and do crazy things her daughter coerced her into doing.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 10AM -12:30PM with a funeral service at 12:30PM at Craciun Berry Funeral Home, 7200 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
