Leona Jean Armstrong

the late Allen and Leona White. She went to be with the Lord on Saturday

May 22, 2021 at 11:15 am. She moved to Cleveland as a child after her

family survived a flood while in Kentucky. Leona was a devoted wife to the

late Charles Armstrong whom she was married to for 40 years before his

passing. She was preceded in her death by 5 sisters Dorothy, Ruby, Adelia,

Francis, Martha and 1 brother, Allen White Jr.

Leona Armstrong dedicated her life to the Lord when she was a child.

When she grew older, she had become a faithful member of Second New

Hope Church which was led by the late Pastor Samuel Lockhart. After his

passing, Pastor Kennedy Lockhart followed his father’s footsteps in stepping

up and leading his own congregation which is now “THE CHURCH”

Church of God in Christ. Mother Armstrong faithfully became a part

of that congregation and served her church by teaching Sunday School

regularly. Leona also enjoyed sewing and music. She dedicated a lot of her

time teaching children how to play the piano. Leona’s spirit was one of a

kind. You would never hear her raise her voice as she would always stay

cool, calm, and collected in any situation. Having one of the most beautiful

spirits, Leona welcomed everyone with open arms and always kind. She

always expressed her faith and gratitude as she called on The Lord for

everything.

She was preceded in death by 3 children: Damon Armstrong, Christy

Armstrong and Richard Armstrong.

Leona leaves to mourn her passing her youngest son, Vernon Armstrong.

Leona has 3 grandchildren: Melanie Armstrong, Melinda Armstrong and

Tiffany Jackson. She has 6 great grandchildren; Brandyn Armstrong, Devin

Brashers, Deasia Deramus , Desha Deramus, Adaja Jackson, Kai Lathon.

Leona also leaves to mourn her best friend Mary Jones and a host of nieces,

nephews, family, cousins and friends
