

Kenneth Smith was born April 10, 1947 in Arkansas to Nancy and Grady Smith Sr., he was raised in Strong, Arkansas and attended some elementary schooling there. In 1957 his family moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he finished his education in the Cleveland School System, after graduation he went to work as a heavy equipment operator withNorth Coast Paving Co.where he worked for many years under the direction and friend Scott McDowell.Kenneth was the youngest of eight children. He was preceded in death by hisparents and five brothers, Charles, OB, Thornton, Grady Jr., Willie J. Roger and two brothers in law Carson and Minor Gatson. Kenneth is survived by his wife Mary A. Smith, stepson, Ronald High, one brother Alfonso G. Smith of Cleveland, OH, two sisters Zella Gatson (Carson) Helen Gatson (Minor) of Kansas City, Kansas two sisters in law MarleneSmith (CS) of Cleveland, Mary Roger (WJR) niece Shirley Jeanand a host of other nieces,nephews and friends.Gray and Carl, I thank you both and I appreciate all you have done for my husband Smitty, God Bless you and yours, Always Mary Smith.Don't Grieve for Me, for now I'm freeI'm following the path God laid for me.I took his hand when I heard him callI turned my back and left it all.I could not stay another dayTo laugh, to love, to work or play.Tasks left undone must stay that wayI found that place at the close of day.If my parting has left a void.Then fill it with remembered joy.A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,Oh yes, these things, I too will miss.Be not burdened with times of sorrowI wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
