Barbara Ruth Ray was born July 14, 1954 in Eutaw, Alabama to Earlie and Eunice Mae Pippen. As a young girl she accepted Christ in her life at the New Hope Baptist Church. While later attending school in the Cleveland Public School District.
Barbara was a homemaker, wife, mother, sister and aunt. She was one of the best cooks and the best dancers in the family. Anytime music was playing Barbara would start dancing (she was called the human washing machine). She also had one of the most infectious personalities to the point where her children’s friend would come to see her and not them. Barbara also had a great impact on the people in her life. Always so strong, capable, tireless, generous and devoted to her family.
Some of her favorite things to do was cooking, listening to music (especially the blues), spending quality time with her children and grandchildren, shopping and telling jokes.
The love that she had for her daughters was a love like no other. Barbara always made sure they understood their value as women and to be proud of whom they are. Also, always be able to stand on your own and depend on no one.
