Dad,

Thank you for being a great Father, mentor, and my best friend. I often think of our days playing catch, shooting free throws and reviewing football film, collecting baseball cards and so many wonderful times and memories.  How about our times having a pizza or a burger or grabbing a DQ ice cream. I miss it all and miss you so much! A day doesn't go by that I don't think of you.

Hey Dad,
Another March Madness and some great games. I remember talking to you the night before the first game and we talked through the brackets and we left the final four to pick the next day. I said I love you and we'll talk in the morning. I remember your phone ringing me the next morning and I was excited to tell you my pick to win it all and instead it was your friend letting me know you had passed. The saddest day in my life. I remember when I got to your place you had the newspaper on the table and filled in was your final four and the championship winner. Sitting there, like you left it there for me to see your final picks. I still have that paper and the were you penciled in Louisville Cardinals as the national champions. Thank you for all the great times and memories, Everyday  I remember one or two and it has helped me get through many tough times.  I miss you.

Happy Birthday Dad!
I miss you, seems like yesterday we were celebrating your 70th together. What a great day that was, I flew out on 4/22 early morning to be there at 3 for your birthday party and had my buddy Marc help coach my baseball team the Colorado Bobcats that Saturday I was gone and he got tossed from the game. I remember him calling and telling me, I thought he was calling to say we won and you took the phone and coached the coach and all was good. Heck we won after all.  I remember you telling him that standing up for your players means more to them then you will ever know in that moment. That being a players coach means everything like backing your employees. They will forever have your back like you did as their coach. Marc and I talk about that often, that in a coaching moment you taught us a life lesson, making us both the leaders we are today. Thanks Pop, I miss you so much!

Hey Dad,

Yesterday was a tough day, I spent the day looking through photos and score books and all kinds of stuff you kept from your coaching days and my playing days. 

I even found the game program from the Gilmour Academy game you kept when I was coaching and the referee told me before the game even started that he wasn't going to "put up with any antics" like he did from my father.  

Great memories and I miss reminiscing with you about them. I think of you everyday and I miss you so much.

Another tough day and just wish I could call you and talk as we did hundreds of thousands times in my KB Toys days and Creme days to bounce things off you.  You always balanced things out and i always found a way forward. That i always appreciated and welcomed as i made the best decision after our conversation. It's a sad day here on earth for me but a joyful one in heaven for you as Porthos is on his way to you. Your good buddy for 12 years gave me 5 more years to be around and have him and you in my life. Not sure why I thought of "Pete" today, but had tears come to my eyes when I googled his name and found his obit. I learned much from Pete working at the beverage store and once chased a purse snatcher with him!  Peace be with you Pete! JR, your Dad was awesome!

Peter “Bob” Lungo was inducted into the St. Ignatius of Antioch Sports Hall of Fame. 

Coach Lungo was honored posthumously for his service as a coach in the parish's intermural leagues in the 1960s and 1970s. 

Lungo's Niagara teams were powerhouses in the intramural leagues.

Coach Bob Lungo was a great influence in my life. I was an underdog,but Bob picked me anyway.He taught me football,he taught me life. He made me a great ball player.He brought out the best me.He saw wat other people didnt.I hav missed u ,coach but I will never forget U It was because of him I made my mom proud of me.Best of all Ill never forget our Fri. nite chalk talk n watchin film with Mr Pucci .He always said earn a name. My name was shiftless. I learned the single wing offence in 6th gr.

"Coach Bob" was a great influence in my life as well as a good friend. I won my one and only trophy under Bob's coaching."Niagra Champs 1967".Rest in Peace Bob.

Bob was a great guy when I knew him while attending St. Ignatius High School. I lost touch with him when I moved from Cleveland. The last time I saw and talked with him was at our reunion about 6 years ago. I will always remember him as a very good talker he did not let facts get in the way of his opinions. I'll always remember him for his smile and jovial mood.

Pete was a great guy whom I knew over 35 years. He was a great co-worker and a good friend. I will truly miss Pete.  My prayers go out to the family.

   Sorry to hear about the loss of your father. May your memories of him live on.

Bob meant more to me than anyone will ever know.  After my Dad died when I was 11, he was my mentor and friend.  As a father and coach myself, he was at my side again, helping me coach my son's teams.  I am a better person because of his influence in my life.  Rest in peace, Bob.

Growing up, Bob and Pat opened their home and hearts to me and a whole group of young athletes from St. Ignatius Parish. All the way through high school and beyond they were like second parents to us. They nurtured us and treated us like family. Bob guided us to seasonal jobs as helpers on pop trucks and advised us on life decisions. I regret that I lost contact with the family over the years. Such a sweet,wonderful,caring,hard working Man.He touched so many lives in His lifetime.I have such great memories of Pete and his sidekick Mo.He always had a smile on His face no matter how hot it was for Him loading that beer in basements. That man worked so hard and He loved it.
