Santos was born in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Victoria Ruiz and the late Santos Ortiz Ramos. He is the loving father of Santos Ed Ortiz (deceased) and Ricky Ed Ortiz (Tania Santos); cherished grandfather of Eliana I. Ortiz, Xavier O. Ortiz and Omari N. Ortiz; dear brother of Louis O. Ruiz (deceased), Julie Ortiz, Marianita Collazo, Nelson Ramos, Marilyn Ramos, Noel Ortiz, Hector Ortiz, Margarita Ortiz, Isabel Ortiz, Edwin Ortiz, Wilson Zayas (deceased), Sonia Velazquez and Annette Ruiz (deceased); adored uncle, cousin and friend of many.
Affectionately called Santito, he is a retired bilingual math tutor of the Cleveland Municipal School District. For the last 30 years, he owned and operated his own tax service. He enjoyed listening and dancing to salsa music, watching sports, playing dominoes, and he especially loved to gather with his loved ones. Santito loved to share stories about his life in Philadelphia and Puerto Rico and the trips he had taken when his son Ricky was young. He always had a good joke to share. Family was the most important thing to him. He was a very proud father and grandfather. Eliana, Xavier and Omari brought him so much joy. He was so proud to be their "Welo". Santito's love, laughter and dance moves will be greatly missed.
