Beloved father of Regina (Matt) Hitt, James F. Green Jr., Danielle (Laurence) Green and the late Gunther Green; devoted Opa to Kyiera, Jayda, Domeier and James; treasured brother to Tuesday (Chris) Davis, Frank (Heather) Allen, the late Christine Voros and the late April Starkey; "UJ" to Amanda (Gabe) Sanovich, Ashley (Brett) Shores, Christopher Davis, Julian, Dominic, and Johnny, cherished nephew to Elizabeth Colon and Patricia Yerg, loving partner to Gloria; uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Jim proudly served his country with honor and distinction as a decorated U.S. Army veteran for 21 years. Over the course of his military career, he served in some of the most elite and respected units, including the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions and the 1st, 18th and 24th Infantry Division. He also served in Operation Desert Storm, a testament to his courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to duty. In addition to his military service, Jim was a dedicated Freemason, embodying the principles of brotherhood, integrity, and service throughout his life. His involvement in the Masonic community reflected the same values he held dear in all areas of his life: loyalty, compassion, and a drive to help others.
Known for his big heart and easygoing nature, Jim found joy in the simple things in life, BBQing with family and relaxing outdoors. He had a deep love for music, especially blues, soul, and country, and was happiest when spending time with those he loved. A true outdoorsman at heart, Jim had a natural talent for gardening and took great pride in his yard. Equipped with a true green thumb—gardening was not only a passion but a reflection of his nurturing soul. A compassionate man who cared deeply for others, Jim always offered a helping hand or a kind word. His generosity extended far beyond his family—he was a devoted supporter of organizations like the VFW, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the American Cancer Society, the Salvation Army, and many others. He saw great importance to giving back to the communities and people he held dear.
More than anything, he adored his family, especially his grandchildren. Time spent with them was his greatest joy, and his love for them was endless and unconditional.
