Shantrell Gabrielle Reed (Shanti) was a great Mom, Chef and lifelong resident of Cleveland, OH. She unexpectedly passed away at the age of 31, on Saturday June 13th 2020.
Shanti is survived by her mother, Shay Reed; her father, Kali Pettigrew, step-mother, Malika Pettigrew; her handsome son, Chase; her siblings, Kali (KJ) and Kierra Pettigrew; her grandmothers Elaine and Brenda Reed; and numerous family, friends and loved ones.
Shanti was born September 14, 1988 in Cleveland Ohio at Metro Health Hospital. Shanti graduated from South High School. She went on to follow her passion in Culinary Arts and excel while earning her Associates in Business at the Art Institute of Phoenix .
Shanti was a devoted Mom, daughter and sister. Her family meant the world to her and she cherished every visit or conversation with them and would spend hours on the phone giving everyone the “Tea”. She held her little brother and sister close to her heart and always gave them big sister advice. On June 22, 2019, her son Chase arrived in this world. He was the love of her life. Shanti dedicated every moment of her day to his well-being and showered him with love and the warmest of loving embraces. Shanti had a fierce passion and love for cooking. It would not be uncommon for her to cook 2 or 3 different dinners a night to cater to her family’s preferred choices. Shanti used the freshest of spices that she grew with love from her own garden. EVERYONE knew about her garden and the joy she had sharing the fruits of her labor. She also loved her beloved Cleveland Cavaliers and was overcome with excitement when they won the championship in 2016. Shanti will be deeply missed by her family, friends and those who knew her.
The viewing will be held Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Cummings and Davis Funeral Home, located at 13201 Euclid Ave, East Cleveland OH. 44112. The wake and funeral services will be held on Monday June 22, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. respectively at the same location. Pastor Christopher Washburn will officiate. The burial will be at Lake View Cemetery located at 12316 Euclid Ave, Cleveland OH 44106 on Monday June 22, 2020 at 12:30pm. She will be laid to rest near her loving Grandfather, Kenneth Reed Sr.
