Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.cummingsanddavisfh.com for the Collins family.
Ms. Shirley Collins was born on February 27, 1954, in Fayette County,
Moscow, Tennessee, to the late Ernest Spence and Catherine Spinks-
Spence. She was the only child of this union. Her mother Catherine
returned to Cleveland where she was later united in holy matrimony to Joe
H. Collins who adored Shirley so much that Joe adopted Shirley and she
became Joe’s daughter for life. Shirley was the oldest of four children.
Shirley professed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Mt.
Haven Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio.
Shirley married the love of her life Daryl A. Cross and to this union two
sons were born: Damon and Jermaine Cross.
Shirley loved to work and taking care of her family was her main priority.
In her early years she worked as an electrical assembler, wiring panels and
quality control. Shirley was a collector of porcelain dolls and ornaments.
Shirley cherished her childhood friends: June Alexander, Evonne Robbins,
and Betty Roberson. She also had many other friends which are too
numerous to name.
On November 28, 2021, the Lord Almighty called Shirley to her heavenly
home because her journey here on earth was complete. We shall all
remember Shirley, and we shall continue to be secure in the knowledge that
in all we do, she shall be with us. We thank god for her, and for what she
meant to all of us.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Catherine, her
step- father Joe, her brother Joseph M. Collins, and her friend Jeffrey
Melton.
Shirley leaves to cherish her precious memories: her two sons Damon and
Jermaine Cross; Former spouse Daryl Cross, sister Jonita Collins; brother
Kelvin (Emma) Collins; grandchildren: Tramon Cross, Jonae (Myles)
Tucker, Janelle Minter, King Cross, Majestie Cross, great-grandson Bryson
Tucker and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
