Thomas was born on May 29, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio to Louis and Jewell Hammond (deceased). Brother to Maggie (John, deceased) Lebowitz, Mark (Shelley) Hammond, Linda (Tim) Carter.
Thomas was married to Mary (Galvin) Hammond on February 5, 1972. They had four children, Thomas Jr, David, Elizabeth (Michael), and Katherine (Brian).
Grandfather to Kayla (Tyler) Zigman, Amanda (Trenton) Cooper, David (Jessica) Hammond, Christopher Hammond, Tyler and Madison Orlosky, Delaney and Kylie Weldon. Great-grandfather to Maisie, Emmie, Skylar, Alice, Bradley, Carter, Destiny, and Grayson.
Thomas lived a full life. He enjoyed many motorcycle trips on his Harly Davidson with his best buddy and brother-in-law James Galvin (deceased) and his nephew whom he loved like a son James Michael McCraw. Tom created memories with his brother Mark and many friends on a once in a lifetime motorcycle trip to Sturgis.
Thomas was a family man. His favorite days were spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He retired to country life in Medina, Ohio in 2021 and enjoyed the many projects that came with country living. He loved his barn, spending hours tinkering with his tractor, building projects and enjoying cold beers. He enjoyed fishing in the pond with his son and best friend Tommy. Tom loved building projects helping Delaney create and build her chicken empire. Together Thomas and Mary built the property of their dreams. A home where family would gather and make memories.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Craciun Funeral Home, 14925 Bagley Road, Middleburg Heights, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11am at St. Colman Church, 2027 West 65th St., Cleveland, Ohio, followed by interment at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery, Mausoleum Angels South, 4700 Broadview Road, Cleveland, Ohio.
