

A visitation for Thomas will be held Friday, July 29, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cummings & Davis Funeral Home, 13201 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio 44112. A wake will occur Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Second Lakeview Baptist Church, 893 E. 123rd Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44108. A home going service will occur Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Second Lakeview Baptist Church, 893 E. 123rd Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44108. An interment will occur Monday, August 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, OH 44273.

Thomas Sanford was born to the union of the late James and Sarah Sanford, in Vidalia, Georgia on December 6, 1936. He departed this life Thursday morning, July 21, 2022, at 8:00 AM at the Windsor Heights Assisted Living and Memory Care in Beachwood, Ohio . He was the 6th child of nine siblings.
Thomas joined the US Army when he was 18 years old. He served in Korea and fought in the Vietnam War. He traveled to several countries in the world. His favorite places were Naples, Italy and Panama City, Panama, residing in both for many years.
Thomas was married to M. Bernice for sixty-two years. Bernice was his pride and joy. Two sons, Thomas (deceased) and Sean were born to this union.
Thomas retired from the US Army after 25 years of service. He and his wife Bernice (deceased) decided to settle in Cleveland, Ohio. He joined Straightway Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Mike.
Thomas served as a Deacon at Straightway Fellowship Church. He was on the Trustee and Usher Board and a member of various committees and clusters. He cherished serving in many capacities throughout his Christian life.
Thomas was adored and cherished by all his family. He retired as a supervisor from United Parcel Services in Highland Heights, Ohio. His interests included photography, cooking, and gardening. He was very generous with his family, especially his five grandchildren.

Thomas leaves to mourn his passing one son, Sean; five grandchildren, Thomas (Sarah) of Madison, Ohio Francheska, of Columbus, Ohio Alyxaundria, Nick and Brandy; three great grandchildren, Ian, Noah and Tessa; brother Charles and sister Carolyn Dixon both of Georgia; two sisters in law, Louise Goode and Mell Buttram (Don); and a host of other relatives and friends
