Willie Mae Jones

Willie Mae Jones was born June 6, 1932 in Marion, Alabama to the late Luther Tubbs and Vera McLaughlin Tubbs. She was the second oldest of 14 children. Willie Mae graduated from the historic Lincoln Normal School in Marion Alabama. In 1955 Willie Mae moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she met her husband of 43 years, the late Cleoster Jones.

Willie Mae worked as a Foodservice Manager for Overlook House for over 40 years. She obtained her certification in Food Management and had excellent culinary skills.

Willie Mae was a member of the Eastern Star and the Lincolnites. She enjoyed bowling and was active in the community as a member of her street association.

Willie Mae confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined Community Baptist in 1969. As a member she served on the Ushers Board and the Women’s Ministry.

She leaves to cherish her memories with her children - Gail Mattox, Larry Tubbs (Spring), Victor Jones, and Vera Crawford (Tyrone), 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 3 Sisters- Della Caldwell, Norma Tubbs, Punnie Evans, 3 brothers - Earnest Tubbs, Leroy Moore, Lloyd Tubbs and a host of other family members and friends.

Three sisters preceded her in death- Ovetta White, Ola Mae Tubbs, and Fay Tubbs.

Three brothers preceded her in death - Luther Jr Tubbs, James C Tubbs, and Freddie Jr Tubbs.
