Allen Edward Shepard III

On September 27th, 2016 Allen lost a 5 year battle to cancer at his home with his wife by his side. He was born in New London, CT on March 25th, 1950. He went to Nathan Hale Ray High School in Moodus, CT. After graduating, he met his wife Lorraine Robinson of Chester and married. They moved to Deep River, CT where they raised their family. He worked at R & R Donnelly's in Old Saybrook and then went to Kathleen Goodwin School in Old Saybrook where he worked as a custodian and retired from there.

Shep enjoyed sitting on the deck bird watching and feeding peanuts to his chipmunk friend, Chip and Snickers his squirrel friend. He loved spending time with his 4 legged babies Callie, Harley and Spike. Before he became sick, he looked forward to boys day in New Jersey at Lead East every year, looking at all the cars with brother-in-laws Dennis Dougherty of Clinton, CT, Peter Maffucci of Baldwin, NY and cousin Peter Marchese of Tappahannock, VA.

He leaves behind his loving wife Lorraine Shepard of Deep River, son Allen Edward Shepard IV (wife Kelly Annino Shepard) of Clinton, CT, daughter Myranda Shepard of Deep River, CT and daughter Christine Vicchitto of Deep River, CT. Grandchildren Cassidy Shepard, Laconia Shepard and Kaylen Shepard of Clinton, CT and predeceased grandson Nicholas J. He also leaves behind brother Robert Shepard (wife Margaret) of Old Saybrook, CT , sister in laws, brother in laws, cousins and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

There will be a service to celebrate Allen's life at the First Congregational Church of Deep River on Saturday, October 22nd at 1:00. Family and friends will be invited to a reception in the church hall following the service.
