

Dolores Clare Voelker was born on July 11th, 1934 in New Rochelle, NY to Anthony and Clara Alfano. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Billy Voelker, a retired Staff Sgt. in the U.S Air Force; her sister, Clara Civatello; and her brother, Anthony (Pete) Alfano. Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, nana, aunt and friend. Known as “Dodie” to her friends and “Do-Do” to her family, she was also an avid bowler and crime TV watcher.
She is survived by her five children: Gail and husband, Russell Marvin, of Margate, FL; Paul and wife, Tina Voelker, of Sayre, PA; Karen and husband, Albert Corey, of Niantic, CT; son, Steven Voelker and daughter, Leigh McLean, both of Clinton, CT. As well as, her 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law: Elaine Alfano, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Dodie graduated from Hill House High School in 1949 and was a brilliant notetaker. Marrying Bill in 1954, Dodie started her family in New Haven and while Billy was stationed in various places, moved with him and their family across different states and abroad to England. Finally taking residence in their Clinton, CT home in 1966.
Playing duck-pin bowling with her father during her childhood sparked Dodie’s love of ten-pin bowling. Traveling across the country, she attended many national tournaments and conventions and was a truly dedicated member of her league. Dolores was inducted in the CT USBC Hall of Fame in 2006 and the New London WBA Hall of Fame in 2011. Friends and family all have memories of the joy bowling brought her.
Dolores’s family was her biggest joy and the light of her life. A nana to so many, Dodie never missed a birthday and her messages, along with holidays at Nana’s, will be missed in the years to come.
Dolores was well-known for her collection of angels and was indeed guided by them as she passed peacefully in her Clinton home surrounded by her loving family.
Calling hours for Dolores will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E Main St, Clinton, Connecticut 06413. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St Mary Church of The Visitation, 54 Grove St, Clinton, Connecticut 06413.
