

Emily Burkhardt Jones, of Chester, CT, widow of Albert Judson Jones, died on March 11, 2015, at her home. She was predeceased by her sister, Virginia Rogers of Guilford, and her brother, Clement Burkhardt of Fort Worth, NY. She is survived by her son, Paul Albert Jones and his wife Mariann of Rush, PA, and daughter Patricia J. Martin of Chesterfield, SC. She is also survived by her grandsons, John Gilbert Martin, and Peter Judson Martin, and step grandsons, David and Peter Heimbach.
She was born in West Haven, was raised in Woodbridge, and lived many years in New Haven, Hamden, and Clinton, until she moved to Chester Village West in Chester, CT. Emily loved the changing seasons of Connecticut. She was a member and served as Deaconess for a time at the First Church of Christ Congregational in Clinton. She was also a member of the Guilford/Clinton Dinky Doos, where she enjoyed the bi-weekly canasta games and camaraderie. Her pets, her garden, and her art were her passions. Lucy, her loving yellow lab, was constantly by her side as she gardened or created her lovely watercolors, as was her cat, Miss Mud. Emily worked for the US Army Ordinance Dept. at Winchester and from 1973-1987 as a clerk for SNET.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 21st at 1pm in the First Church of Christ Congregational, 55 Church Rd., Clinton. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Church of Christ.
