

Breiling- H. Frank Breiling Jr. a Korean War Veteran died peacefully at home, October 28. He was 81. Born in Brooklyn, NY on Sept. 9, 1930, his family moved to East Haven before locating to Clinton on Pleasant Valley Rd. in 1944. After graduating from Morgan School in 1948, Frank enlisted in the US Navy as a parachute rigger and served from 1948-52 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea. He then reenlisted briefly from 1956-58. Frank began his 28 year long career with the Clinton Police Dept. in 1963, serving in many capacities over the years. Those include, Patrolman, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and finally Chief from 1979 until his retirement in 1991. Predeceased by his wife, Doris Cox Breiling in 2009, he is survived by his daughter, Jean and Spencer Moore of Portland Oregon, his son Russell of Niantic, his son Dan and Jodi of Clinton. He also leaves 10 grandchildren, and longtime friend Carolyn Hull. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday Nov. 5, 2011 from 11a.m. until 3p.m. at the Swan Funeral Home 80 East Main Street Clinton, followed by a reception at the Westbrook Elks Club. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Police Benevolent Association 170 East Main Street Clinton Ct. 06413.
