

Kenneth “Ken” Alan Zak, age 70, longtime resident of Clinton, CT and devoted husband to Joanna “Jan” Zak of nearly 50 years, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 15, 2012. Born on March 15, 1942, he was the son of the late Joseph and Katherine Zak of Naugatuck, CT.
Ken was a passionate fan of his alma mater, Boston College, and held football season tickets for nearly 50 years. He was proud to have inspired many family members to also attend Boston College. He loved the water and spent most of his life living, boating and waterskiing on the New England shoreline. He also loved the mountains and the thrill of skiing. In his earlier years, Ken was an avid skeet shooter and a member of the CT State Skeet Shoot team. In his later years, he was active in the Lion’s Club of Clinton, the Happiness Club and the Clinton Country Club.
Ken attended St. Francis Xavier Elementary School and Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, CT and Boston College, where he was junior class president. He graduated in 1963.
He is survived by two daughters, Christine “Ceci” Zak of Essex Fells, NJ and Sarah Zak Borgman, her husband Brad and his beloved granddaughter, Ella Bree of Redwood City, CA. He is also survived by two brothers, William Zak and Kevin Zak, four sisters, Katherine Peltonen, Frances Mucci, Christine Zak and Laurene Zak and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Zak. He was also a devoted friend of “Bill.” A memorial service will be held Friday, July 27th at 11:00 am at the Clinton Country Club.
