Richard B Blythe

Richard (Dick) B. Blythe, 87 of Killingworth, CT passed away peacefully on October 31, 2015. He was born August 10, 1928 in Torrington, CT. He was the son of the late Henry & Lavinia Blythe of Torrington, CT. Dick attended Torrington High School where he excelled in academics and athletics. After graduating from High School he attended Springfield College in Springfield, MA. In 1950, he joined the Army and was in the 169th Infantry. Upon graduation from college he married his high school sweetheart, the late Barbara Hosmer of Torrington, CT. Dick was employed at Holbrook High School in Holbrook, MA and finished his education career as Principal of Valley Regional High School in Deep River, CT. Valley Regional High School honored Dick for his many years of dedication and service by naming football/soccer and track facilities the Richard B. Blythe Athletic Complex. Dick was a very successful and respected administrator, educator and coach. Along the years, he influenced many students and athletes by instilling in them his favorite motto “PRIDE”. Dick was also a very active member and past president of the Killingworth Library Association. Dick was pre-deceased by Francis and Stanley Hosmer and Dorothy and John Celerino . He is survived by his lovely wife of 22 years, Jeanne (Sedik) Blythe of Killingworth, his son Mark H. Blythe and daughter in law Janet of Litchfield, Maine, cousins Wayne and Bruce Dube and Brian and Carol (Sedik) Hogan of Avon and family, David and Sasha (Vlade) Sedik and Reid Sedik, and friend Maureen Frisbee, and his beloved dog Pepper II.

Calling hours will be November 5th from 4pm to 7pm at the Swan Funeral Home 80 E. Main St. Clinton Connecticut 06413. A memorial service will be held at 4:30pm.
