

Richard K. Rohloff of Clinton, CT passed away, surrounded by family, on December 23, 2014. Ric was the beloved husband of Charlene Fitchett Rohloff. Born in New Haven, CT, he graduated from the University of New Haven with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corp, he joined the New Haven Police Department in February, 1975. Ric retired from the police department in July, 2007 as a Lieutenant, Emergency Services Coordinator and Commander of the Hazardous Devices Unit.
Ric loved the outdoors and his dogs. His many interests and talents were in woodworking, he was a pilot and a sailor, scuba diver and marksman. His gentle smile and kind nature will be forever missed.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his brother, Paul Rohloff and his sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Stephen Zito, his niece, two nephews and many cousins. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Paul Rohloff and Marie Knabenschuh Rohloff and his brother Charles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday December 27th at 11am in St. Mary's Church of the Visitation, 54 Grove St., Clinton. Calling hours will be held on Saturday December 27th from 9-10:30am at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Ric be made to New England Airedale Rescue, 3 Carter Rd., Cornwall Bridge, CT 06754 or to the Friends of New Haven Animal Shelter, 81 Fournier St., New Haven, CT 06511.
