Robert Lampo of Clinton Connecticut, age 71, beloved husband of Virginia Lampo, left us far too soon and entered into eternal rest on March 6, 2013 in Naples, Florida where he spent his winter months during his retirement. He was born on July 7, 1941 in New Haven, Connecticut and was the son of the late Anthony and Anna Lampo. Besides his wife Ginny who was the center of his universe for 46 years, he is survived by his two cherished children; Craig Lampo of Durham and Kimberly Dempsey of Madison; his daughter-in-law Melissa Lampo; his son-in-law John Dempsey; his adored five grandchildren Nathan (13), Sydney (12), Paige (10), Carson (10) and Brayden (4); his cherished niece Cheryl Andreson, her husband Bill and their two sons John and Paul. He is also survived by his two sisters Dolores Donle and Loretta Merlino. Bob spent countless hours with his family over the years and especially cherished the time he had with his grandchildren engaging in every activity be it sledding, camping, kite flying, board games, making up silly songs or simply returning cans to the store. In addition to family members Bob leaves behind too many friends to mention. Bob is reunited with his predeceased buddies Bob Mason, Dave Dougherty, Bob McHenry and his favorite canine buddy Boots. Bob received his bachelors degree from Quinnipiac University and served in the Army Reserve. He started his career in the insurance industry before he established, owned and operated a successful cleaning business for many years. He then worked at Yale New Haven Hospital until his retirement. He was an active member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Old Saybrook and enjoyed his bible studies in his search for faith. He also enjoyed his involvement in the Guilford Youth Mentoring Program and his time caring for the elderly with Companions and Homemakers. Bob happily spent his days enjoying life to the fullest and making memories. Bob was never content unless he was active whether that be helping others or enjoying his many interests including camping, motorcycle riding, biking and any game or social activity that people would join in with him. Bob was also an avid runner his entire adult life and was one of the few that ran the New Haven Road Race every one of the 34 years since its inception. We will treasure all the times we cheered for #60 and his legacy will live on with his son continuing to run in this annual event in his memory. Our lives would not have been as fulfilled without him. Hours have been and will be spent telling endless stories about our Bob. We his family are so proud and privileged to have been a part of his life. We have been blessed with years of joy and laughter. Each person who became his friend, or merely crossed his path, knows how special he truly was. Everyone should be as lucky as we have been to share this life with Bob. Bob was rarely if ever seen without his infectious smile. If you knew Bob well you may have heard him say "If I die tomorrow I will have no regrets because I have lived life to the fullest!" Family and Friends may call on Thursday, March 14th from 5pm - 8pm at the Swan Funeral Home 80 E. Main, St., Clinton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 15th at 10am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Old Saybrook. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Guilford Youth Mentoring Program, 605 New England Road, Guilford, CT 06437 or St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 56 Great Hammock Rd., Old Saybrook, CT 06475.
