Salvatore Ragonese entered heaven peacefully on January 19, 2015. Known adoringly as Salvy or Poppy, Sal’s amazingly positive and loving spirit lives on with all of us. Edith, Sal’s beloved wife and best friend, were married 56 years. Sal and his Son Jody had a cherished relationship. Sal was blessed with two Granddaughters Isabella and Juliana, and a Daughter in Law, Laura. Born in NY City on March 15, 1926, Sal was always very close with his Parents and Siblings (Mother - Grace, Father- Sal Senior, Sister – Lillian, Brothers –Anthony, Lenny, Joey, and Paul). Sal’s brave service to his country as a US Marine included the Battle of Peleliu, one of the fiercest conflicts in history. Sal was co-owner of an Italian restaurant in Brooklyn where he met his future wife Edith Brody in 1958. He was a Mechanical Sales Engineer for Taco, out of Cranston, RI, and later a Senior Design Product Engineer for a Danish company, Danfoss. Sal was famous for his spaghetti sauce. He was a member of the American Society of Engineers, and Elks Club. Sal could fix anything. He loved traveling, reading, sports, and most of all being with his family. Thanks to Sal’s fabulous DNA, his wonderful Relatives, Friends, Neighbors, Work Colleagues, and Caregivers, our Poppy lived a very happy life. All are welcome to join the Funeral Service on SATURDAY (January 24) at 10am at Swan Funeral Home (80 East Main Street, Clinton, CT 06413, Tel: (860) 669-2903). Calling Hours will be on FRIDAY (January 23) from 5-8pm (also at Swan Funeral Home). Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, CCFA (Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America), or the American Cancer Society. Please sign Sal’s guest book at www.swanfh.com.
