

Sharon Ann (Sweeney) McNamara, 56, of Clinton, entered into eternal rest on September 22, 2014 surrounded by loved ones at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born on February 7, 1958 to the late William J. Sweeney and Edith (Kanoff) Sweeney of New Haven, she was the beloved wife of James F. McNamara Sr of Clinton. She is survived by her two sons James F. Jr. and Colin W. McNamara of Clinton and step-son Sean McNamara of East Haven. She was predeceased by her step-daughter Shannon (McNamara) Piccirillo. She is also survived by her sister Shirley (Andrew) Gamberdella of Branford and grandchildren Nick and Chelsea Piccirillo of Clinton. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Mac. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1976 and upon graduation attended nursing school. She worked for the Hospital of St. Raphael's for 15 years and spent the last 20 years at Yale University Healthcare Center. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who could not be more proud of her two sons. She will be remembered by all for her hearty laugh, infectious smile, and her selfless approach to life. She loved her annual trip to the lake with all of her "Lake Girls". On behalf of the family, we would like to extend our gratitude to the YNHH ED Staff and MICU Smilow 10th floor for their compassion and care. Visiting hours will be held at Swan Funeral Home in Clinton Friday from 5pm-8pm. A funeral will be held at St. Mary's Church in Clinton on Saturday at 11am.
