
Barbara Ann Given Hardy, 84, of Clinton, died Saturday, April 21, at home. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 25, 2012, from 9-11 a.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Clinton.The service will follow at 11:00. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery on Clinton Boulevard.
Barbara was born January 8, 1928, in Ripley, Tn, to Robert Edmund Given and Lorena Wilcox Given. Barbara attended Blue Mountain College and graduated from Mississippi College. She married William Edward Hardy, Jr., on December 26, 1948 in Ripley, Tn. Barbara served faithfully alongside Bill in Southern Baptist churches in TN, TX, WY, and MS. She was an outstanding Kindergarten Director and teacher. Barbara taught many Sunday School, women's, and Bible classes, mentoring numerous women. Barbara was revered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. For 60+ years, Bill and Barbara had fellowship with a special group of Mississippi College graduates, known as the MC Eaters.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Bill, a resident of the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Jackson, son, Barry Hardy of Madison, daughter, Beverly Coleman (Cliff) of Clinton, and son, Bruce Hardy (Rhonda) of Lawrenceville, GA. Bill and Barbara have 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Barbara is also survived by her brother, Ed Given (Sheila) of Murfreesboro, TN, and was blessed with many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in Barbara' s name to the "We Will Be Your Church" renovation fund at First Baptist Church, Clinton, MS.
