Her early years were spent in Memphis, TN where Sherry is a 1966 Alumni of Memphis Technical High School. Sherry attended Insurance and Business Schools before becoming an underwriter for Crump London Underwriters and later for Browning & Browning.
Sherry’s family moved back to MS about 1984 where she became co-owner of Delta Exhaust Systems in Jackson, MS and the family farm, Tara Farms, and most currently Oak Farm. She and her husband raised Tennessee Walking horses. Sherry had a magical hand in gardening, canning, winemaking, and growing her delightful flowers. Her creative nature reclaimed many an antique or vintage item and her passion was realized in the ownership of the Whistle Stop in Crystal Springs, MS.
Family and friends held Sherry’s love and her grandchildren shaped her joy. She hosted each holiday with creative splendor and gourmet cooking and lived for the next gathering.
Her husband Charles Hendon, her beloved son Michael Hendon and his wife Emily, two stepsons, three stepdaughters, and thirteen grandchildren survive Sherry. She also leaves behind two sisters, Mary Sue Shelton and Jeanette Kramer, and a lot of caring relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be officiated by Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home at 106 Cynthia Street in Clinton, MS on Friday, June 28th with visitation beginning at 5pm and the service at 7pm. All Friends and Family are invited. There will also be a private family graveside service on Saturday, June 29th at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Myrtle, MS.
