

Amna Elnora Shelley, formerly of Clinton Township, passed away on Wednesday October 3, 2012. She was born to Mark and Esther Weathermon on August 10, 1918 in Bear Creek, Montana, but raised in the Yakima Valley, Washington. Amna received her RN degree from St. Mary’s hospital in Walla Walla, Washington in 1940. She spent four years in the Army Nurse Corps, two of those years in the South Pacific and Okinawa where she met and married Howard Shelley of Mattoon, Wisconsin on November 25, 1945. Amna was a fulltime mother and active volunteer in her community and church. She spent countless hours helping those less fortunate. She and Howard supported many charitable organizations. She was predeceased in death by her husband of 61 years, her daughter, Janet Ellen, who passed away from Leukemia in 1969, and her sister Norma of Brewerton, WA. She is survived by her children, Mark Shelley of Clinton Township and Elizabeth Friedberg of Metamora, grandchildren Dan (Nina) Miller, Lydia (Andrew) Rener, Andrew Shelley and Stephanie (Mike) Francis. She was a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother to Sephora, Ever, and Ellie Mae, all of whom will miss her constant smiles and infectious giggles. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Lee Pawson of Brewerton, Washington, and nieces Linda (Mitch) Murri and Norma (John) Frank of Florida. Visitation will be Sunday October 7, 2012 from 12-6pm at Resurrection Funeral Home 40800 Hayes Rd. Clinton Township MI, 48038. Funeral Monday October 8, 2012 at 11am with visitation preceding the service at the funeral home. Burial at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East.
