Barbara found great joy in life's adventures and community connections. She especially enjoyed taking bus trips to the casino with her fellow seniors, always up for a little fun and laughter. A natural leader, Barbara served as a condo president and was deeply involved in her community. She was passionate about civic engagement and proudly worked the polls during every election. Barbara also had a love for travel, often venturing to new places with her beloved Dennis. Of all travels, her favorite destination was Jamaica and her timeshare in Florida, where she found sunshine, peace, and joy.
Butterflies held a special meaning for Barbara- she often added them to flower arrangements for her mother, a small, beautiful gesture of love. She lives with honesty and spirit, never one to shy away from the realities of life, often saying with a smile, "I've got to die from something."
Barbara was a devoted wife to Dennis Hering for 40 years until his passing in 2005; mother to Karl Hering; grandmother to Ann Craven; sister to the late Judith Wilk, the late Beverly (Kenneth) Witkowski, Joseph (Sandra) Wilk, Paul (Margaret) Wilk, Keith Wilk and Karen Jacobs; Godmother to Katie Wilk and Mitchell Jacobs; Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
An in-state for Barbara will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral mass at 9:30 AM at St. Michael Catholic Community, 40501 Hayes Rd, Sterling Heights, Michigan 48313.
Immediately following the funeral mass, Barbara will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery, 18201 Clinton River Rd., Clinton Township, Michigan 48038.
