Terri, Callyn, and Skye-Lynn I am so deeply heartbroken for you and I have you in my thoughts and prayers. 

I was quite a bit younger than a lot of my cousins and so most of my memories of Christopher are from when we were kids. I was always running after the older kids as they explored the fields and train tracks around Grandma Norma’s big old house in Middlemiss. 

Christopher had a way of touching people’s lives in a way that was so special. I was struggling a lot this past spring and I am not sure how Christopher knew, but he reached out to me on Instagram and asked me how I was doing and made sure I was okay. And then he checked in on me afterwards from time to time. He told me about a film he was working on and we shared our goals with each other for the next year or so. I will forever miss his sweet soul but I know he will continue to look over us a guardian angel and I find comfort knowing he’s with Grandma Norma. 

I love you guys and I am here for you. 

During the large get together at grandmas house. We would play as children. Christopher was artistic and funny. Quiet and observant. He was the boy you could tell secrets to and he wouldn't laugh. The boy who accepted everyone, anyway, shape and form they came. I watched chris grow into a man who took those virtues and made them his life. He had a big big heart, loved to be active, give to charity and run. I'm so proud of Christopher. He was a great man and will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences to my cousin Terri on the loss of her son and her friend. My heart bleeds for you. I know deep inside, he is with Gramma Norma and making her laugh. 

I met Christopher and Terri years ago when a group of us were having class with Mr Johnson. Christopher impressed me so much with his beautiful gentle soul. I know the family is a mess with their loss. I hope the Creator eases your sorrow by showing you all the ways Christopher made a difference in the world and how the world is a better place because he was with all of us. Christopher is still with you, he’s just starting his next journey now. Love never dies and Christopher was all about love. You are all in my prayers

My wife Sooyeong and I were heartbroken when we heard the news. 

Christopher was such a sensitive and caring person. 

There was no one I would have rather been lost in a dark forest with than Christopher. He kept his cool the whole time, even though Shaun and I were older.

I was glad we were able to reconnect when he came down to Toronto for the ImagineNative film festival. The excitement he felt was contagious. We were always rooting for you.

A message from Chris’ elementary school classmates:

Chris was a beloved member of our class at Wiiji Nimbaawiyaang in his home community of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, as well as a dear cousin to many of us. Even though so much changed as we all grew up and into our lives over the years, many of us cherished catching up with Chris when he would make his way back for the summer or holidays.

We were deeply devastated to learn of Chris’ sudden and tragic passing. When we heard the news, Miranda organized for us to meet up to remember Chris at the school we attended, and we took this picture. You’ll see we have photos and memories of Chris from our Wiiji days. We wanted to share our condolences to you all who loved Chris so deeply. Our time knowing Chris in childhood is profoundly treasured, and we are incredibly grateful to have known his kind, creative, and playful spirit.

As each of us shared fond memories, laughter, and tears, we keep you all in our hearts and prayers. Our deepest sympathy and condolences to friends and family of Chris, from his friends and family here in Deshkan Ziibiing. Journey well Chris, we love you more than words can say.

In March of 2020, we walked around Ferndale, and he complained only Canadians walk everywhere. We made plans to bring everyone together for a party of sorts. I wish I had said more to Christopher the last time I texted, but I am thankful that I was able to let him know I was thinking of him. I have never met anyone who could be so many things to one person. Friend, teacher, cousin, brother, nephew, son. He was a good friend, and I called Callyn and Christopher my baby cousins because their Mom is my cousin. He had a true kind soul, and he humoured me.

I told this story to Christopher as it made a big impression on me. My Mom told it here too. When I was 15 or 16, I volunteered at the theatre, and I had free tickets for a play. My Mom asked all the kids if they wanted to go, but only Christopher wanted to come. He showed up in a three-piece suit looking like a little old man of 6 or 7, and I was lucky enough to see his expression on his face of pure delight as he watched his first play. 

Years later, we talked about filmmaking, and I invited him to an Indigenous film festival in Toronto. I bought the tickets for this particular film with him in mind because I knew that it would resonate with his life experiences. Again, I was lucky enough to share our mutual love of film, art, music, and performance with him. We had the most incredible time drinking coffee, eating, laughing, crying, dancing, and talking. We intended industry talks. He brought me coffee every morning because I am super grumpy, and I love anyone who will get me a coffee. Another year, he brought Callyn, and we could share the experience with her as well. It was something to look forward to, and I will miss him, and it won't be the same without him. We had more to do together.

Christopher was kind enough to model in a fashion show for my store. He modeled  with Ari and Cailyn.  Isn’t he  a handsome model?💕. 

Christopher, you will surely be missed by all who knew you. 

My nephew, Christopher was an artist, an actor and entertainer, a poet and a gentle soul. Always full of fun, always teasing, he charmed everyone with his mischievous smile. 
Even as a four year old he had a sense of humour. He decided that things had gotten out of hand at Jessie's birthday party while he was watching the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so he called 911. Chrissy, you are loved and treasured. We were so fortunate to share your time.


 One of my favourite memories of Christopher was the time when our family invited him to the Grand Theatre to see the Secret Garden. I will never forget how Terry spiffed him all up in white shirt and tie with his hair freshly gelled.  He looked like a celebrity during intermission. The smile on his face made your heart melt. That’s how I want to remember Christopher, that joyous smile I will never forget.

I would like to share a living memory of Christopher.  When he returned from California he was so proud to be an extra in the movie “Oz the great and powerful”.  We watched the movie and the precise moment when he was on screen over and over again.  He will forever be in my heart. 

I am deeply saddened to hear of this tragic loss, a great guy taken to early.  I know he will be deeply missed by all that knew him. I never spent much time with Chris, but my favourite memory was at Christmas one year.  After spending all day with him, joking around and listening to stories about the movie industry, and celebrities that he had met, I felt like had known him forever.  It was also then I realized he was the most famous person in our family. So, along with my other cousin Chris,  it was decided his name would forever be Famous Chris.  He was a genuine character and left an unforgettable impression on me. RIP Famous Chris

We recalled a beautiful memory of a young man who went out of his way to be at our 50th surprise wedding anniversary celebration.  Him and his sister.   That young man was Christopher!  That memory will always be in our hearts!!  Terri please know you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.  Our love to you and yours. 

When his aunt Connie called me and told me he was gone. It was an unbelievable shock. Memories of vacations we took together in Florida, family visits and celebrations rushed through my head. All with Christopher's smile, sense of humor and the laughs we shared. He is like a nephew to me even though we hadn't seen each other for a long while. We always had great talks, laughs and special moments. Too young to be taken from us.  Christopher will always be in my heart and I will forever hold fond memories of him.  Lots of love to his mom and dad, Terri-Lynn and Chris.  I'm holding you both tight now and forever.
