Elder Mr. Clarence Horton was born to the union of Dora and Alonzo Horton on December 6, 1935 in Jonesboro, Georgia. After graduating from high school, Clarence joined the United States Navy. One of Elder Clarence many assignments were serving as a Nuclear Power Specialist on the USS Enterprise. After retiring from Navy Elder Clarence went to work for a movie production company.
Elder Clarence met the love of his life, who he passionately calls, “His Lucky Diamond” Bernadette Payne while visiting family in Detroit Michigan, and took her as his wife April 25th, 1988. Elder Clarence not having a son got a bonus, as he put it, with a son Samuel Winston and a host of nieces and nephews.
Elder Clarence and Bernadette started attending Selfridge Military Chapel in the early two thousand and he was ordained an Elder of the church in 2006. He continued to serve the Lord as an Elder at Christ center Community Church, New Baltimore, Michigan. Elder Clarence enjoyed repairing cars and collecting rare coins.
Elder Clarence leaves to remember his life and service, his loving wife and Lucky Diamond Bernadette, his son Samuel, his sisters-in-law, his Christ Center Community Church family, and a host of nieces and nephews. His mother, father and siblings all preceded Clarence in death.

A visitation for Clarence will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 11 AM until time of the funeral service at 12 PM at Christ Center Community Church, 52571 Washington Street, New Baltimore, MI 48047. A committal service will follow at 2:30 PM at Christian Memorial Gardens West, 521 E Hamlin Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48307.
