Claude "Woody" Wood, of Fraser, passed away on September 3, 2018 at 99 years of age. Dear husband of the late Alice; adored father of Susan Adele (Kevin) Clark, and Gary (Connie) Wood; proud grandfather of Vanessa Lynn Clark, Michelle Christine Clark, Kevin Marcus Clark, Megan Alice (Alex) Huyn, and Matthew Wood; great-grandfather of Evan Dant Pfaff, Emma Nicole Pfaff, Corbin James Pfaff, Marek Clark Pfaff, Trevor Jonathan Dunbar, Liberty Susan Loetell, Violet Justice Loetell, Kade Morrison Clark, Madden Michelle Clark, and Donna Catherine Clark; brother of the late Raymond Wood and the late Melba Wood.
Claude moved to Fraser, Michigan in 1935 with his parents, Edward and Celestia Wood. He proudly served his country throughout World War II with the Army Battlefield Commission as 2nd Lieutenant. He served with the B/67th FA of the 3rd Armored Division as a Forward Observer with a Field Artillery Unit. Claude received numerous medals, including two Bronze Stars. He later became the charter commander for the Fraser VFW Post 6691 helping to establish the post and was a proud member of the Macomb County Ritual Team for many years.
The family will greet friends from 3:00pm- 9:00pm on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd., Clinton Twp. Funeral Service with military honors will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 8 at the above location. Visitation from 10:00am until time of service. Interment at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East at a later date.
