Very sorry to hear about Dave's passing. I went to City Barber College with Dave, he was 3 months behind me, but he quickly became part of our little group of 4 or 5 who would eat lunch together. He was a very funny guy. Unfortunately he was a east sider and I'm a west sider and after school we lost contact. But I would think about Dave and our little group every once  in a while, but didn't know how to contact any of them. I just met somebody recently and during our conversation she told me her Uncle was a Detroit fireman as was my father, any way when she told me his name I told her his wife's name, who was part of our group. So I tried again to find Dave, and that was when I came across his passing. Again I'm sorry to hear about his passing.

The folks at Willies Donuts would like to extend our condolences to Dave's family, Dave's friends and all of Dave's long-time customers. I myself was such a long-time patron of Dave's in Grosse-Pointe and in Chesterfield. There was not a better character to befriend when trouble was with you or a good turn had come your way, better than a bartender, my barber always had the notion that i was right.  I will miss my friend, my barber, and one of the best customers a small shop could have. Alas we shall no longer hear the call from the store girl "say hello to Dave the barber" . We all will raise a cup of joe and a donut in memory of our friend.

Dave was my barber for decades, a nicer, truer person still can’t describe him.  He always remembered my kids names.  Always had a smile and something funny to say.  I told him I would miss when the store closed, that was a sad day.  Sympathies to the family.    RIP Dave.     💜🫶

I was stunned to see Dave had passed. A great man that I knew for many years. He cut my my hair for years and we always had fun conversations. I never had to tell him how I liked my hair cut after the first couple times. We talked business and he loved talking about his family. I hated it when he decided to retire, I LOST MY BARBER and someone I really looked forward to talking with every month. One thing I remember is is love for hamburgers. He moved to Chesterfield and said he loved them burgers at Sugarbush Tavern. My sincere condolences to his family.

Wow.  Dave and I go  back to 2nd grade together.  Many laughs of the Arthur Junior High days together.   When he would cut my hair, we always had a laugh  especially in Grosse Pt.  I did follow him to the new  place on Gratiot.  He cut my hair for over 40 years and gave my son his first haircut.  He was my dental patient for 40 years.  I plan to be at the memorial in  September. Dave would want a celebration of his life and the joy he brought others.  Prayer for Kathy,  David  Jr, and Steve. RIP my friend and  l’ll see you on the other side.😪😥

Such a relaxing, delicious BBQ get together 4th of July. After years together, going on trips, raising our kids together, our ‘group’  went different ways. Yet, felt like years hadn’t past for this BBQ. Get together.It was great joking, talking, seeing & hugging. Thank you Dave for being a fun!

With all the pictures I have, this was the only one I had of Dave.. I really think it shows the jolly man he was.   I worked 2 doors down from his barbershop.  He was the best neighbor and friend. Always there to help and make me laugh.  Generous, kind man to ALL!  He will be greatly missed.

So so very sorry for your loss. Dave and I were classmates at Denby and later on he would cut my two sons hair. They loved going to see Dave at the barber shop. He always made them laugh or roll their eyes as Dave and I reminisced about our school days. RIP Dave.

So very sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. So many great memories of the days when our kids went to school together at Holy Innocents.  Dave always had a smile and was always good for a few laughs. We enjoyed our time at the Holy Innocents Carnival’s and Vegas Nights, Mens Club and the kids sporting events. He was always involved and willing to give his time for the benefit of the kids.  Deepest condolences to Kathy, Steve and Dave.

Thanks Dave for always greeting me with a smile and a joke over the last 30+ years seeing you at the barber shop (even way back when I was a young, obnoxious teenager). The same was true when seeing you at the "new" shop as recently as a couple months ago.
I always came back to the shop even after moving out of GP. The barber shop was a great place, experience, and owned & operated by a good-hearted man.
Dave, you were a good man.
