She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Eugene (Gene) Pickutoski. Proud mother of Jacki Pickutoski (Grant Darga) and Kay Pickutoski. Cherished sister of Bob Renshaw Jr., Mark Renshaw (Kim Renshaw), and Jeff Renshaw. Treasured Stepdaughter to Hope Renshaw. Also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, Bob and Pat Renshaw.
Debbie always had a passion for animals that led her into her lifelong career as a vet tech. She even acquired a couple dogs of her own along the way (despite the occasional grumbles for Gene). Through all the highs and lows of working in the veterinary field, she never lost her dedication to trying to make a good life for the animals in her care. She sparked this passion for pets in her two children. Receiving pictures and stories of their pets (Spencer and Kiwi) brought great joy to Debbie, even during her last days.
Debbie’s best loved hobby was, in one word, “nature”. She enjoyed everything that came with it from camping, canoeing, and nature walks to gardening vegetables, planting flowers, and attracting hummingbirds to her yard. Canoe trips and vacations Up North were always something she looked forward to. Her favorite form of relaxation was sitting on her bench swing, outside on a warm (not too hot or humid) day. This always included: a dog at her feet, a book in her hand, and the glimpses of hummingbirds around her. She would always welcome a visitor to her bench and talk with them until the sun went down or “the mosquitos got too bad”, no matter what the conversation was.
Visitation will be from 2pm-7pm with a 6 pm memorial service on Saturday April 27th, 2024 at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd., Clinton Twp., Michigan.
Per Debbie’s request, there will be a celebration of her life at a later date during the summer. If you would be interested in joining the family for this celebration, you can contact her daughter Jacki by email at: [email protected] to give your contact information.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the National Pancreas Foundation in Debbie’s memory.
