Beloved Husband, Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather
Earl Belger, of Clinton Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. A devoted husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, and respected business leader, Earl’s legacy is one of integrity, compassion, and unwavering dedication to his family, community, and profession.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan, and his children from his first marriage: Matthew (spouse Sharon), and their daughters Sarah, Emily, and Elizabeth; Deanna, and her children Griffen and Violet; Kathryn (spouse Mike), and their children Lillian, Angelica, Alexander, and Johnnie; and Brian. He is also lovingly remembered by his stepdaughter Linda (spouse Jeff) and her children, Connor, Gavin, and Kelley. Earl was the cherished son of Elsie Barratt, and is also survived by his sisters, Jeanne (spouse Richard) and Jan (spouse Rob). He was a loving uncle to his niece and nephews and a steady presence of support and wisdom to all who knew him.
Earl proudly served his country as a Drill Sergeant in the United States Army Reserve for eight years during the Vietnam War. His leadership and discipline left a lasting impact on those he trained and served alongside.
Earl graduated from Walsh College with a Bachelor of Accountancy and received his Masters in Science of Taxation from Washington School of Law.
A highly respected professional, Earl was the founder and owner of a successful accounting firm for over thirty years first in Eastpointe, Michigan, and then in Fraser, Michigan. Known for his sharp intellect, professional excellence, and integrity, he served his clients and community with genuine care. He was especially grateful for his fantastic staff, whom he regarded as extended family.
Outside the office, Earl was a gifted athlete with a black belt in Kempo Karate. He enjoyed golfing, baseball, bowling, playing capture the flag and riding bikes with his children. He also coached his daughter’s baseball team. He is remembered by his family for his sense of humor and constant teasing. Susan and Earl were married thirty years ago in Charleston, South Carolina, and they traveled every year to Kiawah Island, South Carolina, a place he loved dearly. Among his greatest joys was the companionship of Jessie, his beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Earl’s life was filled with purpose, humor, compassion and generosity. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, staff, clients and all who had the honor of knowing him.
A visitation for Earl will be held Sunday, August 10, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Rd, Clinton Township, Michigan 48038.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Earl's memory to the Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
