Edward F. Meerschaert, a treasured grandfather, loving father, caring brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, generosity, and steadfast devotion to his family.
Edward was born on October 16, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to Clarence and Agnes Meerschaert.
Edward served as a Reiki Master, meditation guide and instructor, and Reverend, dedicating his life to spiritual growth and service to others. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He found joy in theater, reading, writing, lifelong learning, and sharing a good-natured joke. A compassionate listener, Edward always offered a supportive ear and spoke without judgment. His steady sense of peace was ever-present, and he had a rare gift for helping others feel that same calm in his presence.
Dear father of Jennifer (Christian) Cassel, Jeffrey (Laura) Meerschaert, and Stephanie Meerschaert; beloved grandfather of Chase, Gavin, Grace, Cayla, Tyler, Jacob, and Lucas; cherished brother of Arnold (Jan), Harold (Judy), Carol (Gerald), and Clarence (Cheryl).
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Agnes (DeLamielleure) Meerschaert, brothers Arnold & Clarence, brother-in-law Gerald Meagher, and sisters-in-law Arlene and Cheryl Meerschaert.
Funeral service information –
Instate at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 for family at The Woods Church, 14300 E. Thirteen Mile Road, Warren, MI 48088.
Service at 3:00 pm.
Celebration of Life luncheon to follow the service in the Ministry Center, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm.
Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI 48442, at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 29, 2026.
