It’s been one year since the passing of our beautiful sister, Eileen.  Miss her each and every day. May she be resting in peace in Heaven with all our other loved ones who passed before.  Love you, Eileen

I remember Eileen from our GA grade school days.  One year the nun had the class do a "secret pal" exchange for either Valentine's Day or some other holiday.  You were supposed to give your "secret pal" holy cards (not a Valentine Card) with a prayer pledge written on it.  Of course, you were not to reveal your identity to your "secret pal".  I received many holy cards from my "secret pal" that year, who I later learned was Eileen.  For this Eileen has always held a special place in my grade school memories.  My condolences to her family and loved ones.

So shocked, surprised, and oh, so very saddened to learn of the death of my dear friend, Eileen.

Literally, on the very day that word reached me, I was putting the finishing touches on a long overdue letter to Eileen, a companion to her 74th birthday card, along with a photograph that she had requested, which would have been mailed on Monday.

Remembering Guardian Angels Days, Dominican Days, at times rendezvousing on Houston-Whittier to walk to school together, reminiscing as we gathered at reunions and how can I celebrate Halloween without remembering as I do each and every year, how Eileen arrived invited at my home simply dressed as Frankenstein one Halloween, uttering not a word and maintaining that silence all night long much to the fear and trembling of all those who had attended that never-to-be forgotten party.

You left us in autumn on the very feast of St. Francis of Assisi who had praised and embraced “Sister Death”, opening his arms to welcome her and welcome her with joy, because it was she who was going to lead him to the gates of Eternal Life.

We are all on the same journey, my friend; you are now, just a little bit further down the road… So very grateful for having been a part of your story, chapter, after chapter, after chapter, Eileen.

To you, Eileen’s dearest family - the prayers in my heart are for peace in yours. 
God knows your sorrow.

My Mother was a kind-hearted, loving, caring woman and her compassion for others was boundless.  I will always remember her for her sweet nature and the manner in which she exemplified unconditional love.  I will miss her very much and am eternally grateful to have been blessed to have her as my mother.  

My sister, Eileen, was a very caring and loving mother, sister, aunt and great-aunt.  She was kind and thoughtful and had a very big heart, gentle soul and loved everyone.  I will miss talking with her for hours on end about memories from long ago, the many books we’ve read, movies we’ve seen and our sports teams.  She also remembered every date of everyone’s birthdays, anniversaries and other family and historical  events from the past.  May she Rest In Peace and in no pain.  I love you, Eileen.
