I'm very sad that  my 2nd Dad passed away. He passed away when I was very young. I will always miss him, and I will always remember him. He will always be loved by me and my family.  If I had one wish that would come true it would be for him to come back so I could be with him. 
Daddy Gary,
There is one thing I want to say, I love you and I miss you everyday of my life! Like Dad said "Make sure you have plenty of duct tape and bungee cords!! Until we meet again!

When I found out Gary had passed, I explained it this way to others, "we had a death in the family" and, I didn't mean  family just family to Jon, but family to all of us. I thought of Gary like a long lost brother who met later in life (we were both the same age) and we had similar life experience and histories in common.
 
And, of all the twists and turns in my life while fostering children, this was one turn I'm glad I made. It was a comfort for him to always be around our 5 children together to experience holidays, birthdays, ordinary days, their first walks, their first talks and even potty training. For our 4 children, he was 'Daddy Gary'. 
When others question us about that, we explained the best way we could...
       "He was their other Daddy". Later, it became fun explaining how our children came to have 2 Daddies and how much of an advantage that was.

If their is one piece of advice I will always remember, it will be in the raising of children.

Sally:  No one is ever ready for death, but always remember you were the kindest, most caring, and gracious mother Gary could have asked for.  He was very lucky to have had you in his life. May your memories be a source of comfort.

(nonverbal) When shown a picture of Daddy Gary, Joey kissed it and pointed up (as to heaven). When asked if he loved him, he nodded 'yes'. And, when asked If he'd like to talk to him, he again nodded, 'yes'.

" He was a good Daddy I loved him very much and wished he hadn't passed away because I would have continued to enjoy talking with him. If I could wish anything, I wished him to come alive again."

 "He was a Loving person and always helped  us out when we needed him & I wish I could thank him one last time
for all the things he's done for us."

"I am very sad at his passing because he was the nicest, kindest person I've ever spent time with.
            
I am most sad because he's passed away while I'm still very young."

Gary and I met more than 20 years.  He was a good guy who I know loved his son beyond words.  Please accept my heart felt condolences to his son, family, Angela, Norma and all of his friends.  My kids and I will always remind him fondly.
