Helen O. Monastersky, age 89, passed away January 5, 2014. Helen graduated from Hamtramck High in 1942. She enjoyed music, playing the violin in school and after. Helen liked animals and loved to travel, golf, and play cards. She was always kind and worried about others before herself. Helen was the beloved wife of the late George Monastersky; loving mother of Martin (Sue) Monastersky and Kathleen (Robert) Nieman; devoted grandmother of Michael Nieman, Shannon (Duane) Shortt, Tera (Quinn) Smith, and Gregory (Heather) Monastersky; and proud great-grandmother of Colin Smith, Ronan Smith, Greta Shortt, and Westin Shortt.
