Jacqueline (Breniser) Brunais, age 87. Beloved wife of Ellsworth Brunais, dear mother of sons Brian (Debbie) Jeffries and Scott A. (Kathy) Brunais, and daughters Andrea (Hal Gibson) Brunais, the late Valerie Washburn-Brunais, Francine (Jeff) Le Claire, and Kay (Alan) Hunsanger, dear grandmother of 14, dear great-grandmother of two, and dear sister of Joyce Monte, the late Arlene Harvey, and Elwin Breniser. In her hometown of Gregory, she was an intellectual standout beginning in grade school, and she graduated from the University of Michigan and became a teacher. She quit the profession to raise her children. In a late-in-life career, she worked as a paralegal in a Mount Clemens law office. An accomplished writer, she was a founding member of the Write Focus group. Prolific in her output, she produced many poems and stories in her later years including a children's book, "Beyond the Cave." Jackie, as she was known, did some daring things in her youth, including earning her pilot's license and once making a scary landing after dusk. She was a generous soul, a book lover, a bird watcher, and an organic gardener before it was cool. A brilliant and highly literate woman, she was an ace at Scrabble, mastered difficult crossword puzzles, and was the absolute authority on any definition, spelling, or question of grammar. She had a great sense of humor and her wit could always make others laugh. She will be greatly missed.
