Beloved father of Cheryl (Sam) Serra, Celeste (David) Hoopingarner, Tina (James) Woods, Anthony (Paula) Tocco, and Paul Tocco; proud grandfather of Christina (Willie) De La Cruz, Lisa Aguilar, Joe (Toni) Hoopingarner, John (Molly) Hoopingarner, Megan (Mark) Malcom, Alaina Golasinski, Jeff (Miranda) Hoopingarner, Jason (Samantha) Hoopingarner, Matthew Woods, and Randy Golasinski; great-grandfather of Titan, Julianna, Armani, Stathum, Noah, Samantha, Roman, and Maddox; dear brother of Paulette Martin; also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; sons: Joe Tocco, and John Tocco; and parents, Paul F. and Clara Tocco.
Joe was born on January 4, 1939, in Detroit. He graduated from Sweetest Heart of Mary High School in 1957 and married Nancy Ann Stencel in 1959. Joe proudly retired as Roseville Fire Marshall in 1995 after serving the community as a firefighter for many years. He was a strong, silent caregiver and leader who loved his family deeply. Joe enjoyed bowling, word puzzles, and playing Keno.
The family will greet guests from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Rosary service on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd., Clinton Twp., Michigan. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 19 at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 14115 E. 14 Mile Rd., Sterling Heights. In State from 10:30 am until time of mass. Interment following at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Twp.
