Judy J. Black of New Baltimore, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025. Judy was a loving wife to Chuck Black for 34 years; cherished mother to Ryan and Trevor; former wife to the late John Glass; beloved daughter to the late Ford and Joanne Baumgarth; dearest sister to Gary Baumgarth; loved cousin to so many. And many, many childhood friends who are considered family to this day. Judy also leaves behind her beloved dog Stella, and Siamese cats Ciroq & Sangria.
Judy was a graduate of Finney High School and a loyal employee of Michigan Auto Law for over 30 years. Judy was known for hosting her parties. She always threw the biggest and best parties where no one left hungry. Judy also loved her country concerts. These concerts always turned into a whole day of partying and plenty of food, even from the back of her car. Judy’s country concerts were a staple of her summer activities. Judy enjoyed many summer vacations to Traverse City with her family. Some of her favorite things to do while visiting were to sit on the beach, visit the wineries, and get a chocolate malt from Don’s Drive-In. She always made sure to recommend these to anyone who was going to visit Traverse City.
Judy loved Eastern Market. She began bringing Ryan and Trevor down to flower day and making it a family event when they were both young. This tradition continued for many years and even turned into a regular weekend event in recent years. She always raved about the quality of the fruits, vegetables, meats, and spirits from the Detroit City Distillery (DCD), which she loved. Judy attended many events at the DCD and was often treated as a VIP, as all the staff loved her and would let her in early. Judy loved her shopping and planned an annual trip to Frankenmuth every year. She also looked forward to attending the Oktoberfest in Frankenmuth with friends and family. Judy was a supporter of all Detroit sports and even recently started watching the Lions. Judy will be missed by all her friends as well. She always knew how to liven up the room and make everyone smile.
