Marie J. Mathes

Marie J. Mathes passed away on May 13, 2023 at the age of 98. She was the loving wife of the late Alfred Mathes. The beloved mother of Douglas, Linda (Robert) Pierce, Glenn (MaryAnn), Karen (Phillip) Augustyn, Dale (Janet), Ronald (Cheryl), and Gordon (Helene). Marie is also survived by 20 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters Alice J. Johnson and Carolyn T. Pollock. Marie was the oldest child of the late Joseph and Caroline Apfel. Her beautiful heart and caring nature will be missed by all who knew her.

A visitation for Marie will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road in Clinton Township. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 19, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 42681 Hayes Road in Sterling Heights. Friends may visit the church on Friday beginning at 10:00am.
