Ray is the beloved husband of TeresaAnn “Tess” Gardiner for 65 years; Loving father of Maureen Ferguson (John), David Gardiner (Deana), and Tom Gardiner; Cherished grandfather of Tyler Gardiner; Dear brother of Barbara Jarema (Robert); Dearest uncle to many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Ray exemplified a life in service to others. In his younger years he was very active in his parish of St. Michael Catholic Community in Sterling Heights where he participated as an usher, lector and Eucharistic minister. He pursued a career in education and worked for 34 years for Detroit Public Schools as a teacher for the deaf. Following his retirement, he remained active by working in security for 15 years with Beaumont Hospital in Troy. Ray will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 2-8 PM with a scripture service at 7 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, Michigan 48038. An in-state visitation will follow on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 10:30 AM, until time of funeral mass at 11 AM at St. Michael Catholic Community, 40501 Hayes Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan 48313. Final resting place, Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ray’s memory to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit.
