Robert was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean conflict. He received several United States Medals including the Korean Service Ribbon with two bronze service stars; Commendation Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal. He was a member St. Isaacs Jogues Men’s Club, Kiwanis, GM Men’s Club, VFW, and Chairman of St. Clair Shores Civil Service Board. He worked for General Motors where he worked as an engineer for 32 years.
Robert was predeceased by his wife, Mary Kay (nee: Schmidt) and is survived by his current wife, Grace. Loving father to Patti (Jon) Stowell, Peggy (Tom) Jones, Robert (Jayne) Jr., Ellen (Bernie) Lynch and Tracy (Eric) Hanson and stepfather of James (Jeannie) Donnellon, Michael (Tanya) Donnellon, the late MaryEllen Benincasa, Susan (the late Mike) Durbin, Theresa (John) Czarnik. Dear step-father-in law of John (Shelly) Benincasa. Proud grandfather of 27 and great-grandfather of 31.
Robert was predeceased by his siblings Helen McMahon, Thomas Van Antwerp, Jane Belanger and Virginia Polhill.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a scripture service at 7:00PM at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Road, Clinton Township, MI 48035. In state Wednesday, January 22, 2025 10AM until time of Funeral Mass at 10:30AM at St. Thecla Catholic Church, 20740 S Nunneley Rd., Clinton Township, MI 48035. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Michigan Veterans Home in Chesterfield.
