Thomas Gall, 84, a.k.a. cowboy, of Roseville, MI, passed away peacefully in his home with his loving family at his side on July 8th, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Thomas was born on August 10th, 1939 in Clymer, PA. He is predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Nellie Gall, as well as his siblings, Joanne Arrigo, Mary Ellen Gall, and Andrew Gall. Thomas attended Servite High School in Detroit and went on to become a lithographer, working for several printing companies, before retiring in 2001.
A man of deep faith, Thomas was a longtime, active member of Holy Innocents Catholic parish in Roseville. He believed in the virtues of a spiritually based education and worked hard to ensure that all of his children received 12 years of Catholic education. Thomas also enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre, with his friends and family, and was highly competitive, just ask his daughters. He was an avid fisherman, often found on Lake St. Clair in pursuit of yellow perch or walleye. His children and grandchildren will continue to share stories of their fishing adventures with him for years to come. Thomas also loved sports, whether coaching little league football or basketball, and took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren participate. Additionally, Thomas will be remembered as a man devoted to his family, instilling the virtues of duty, hard work, honor, faith, and integrity in his children, with these values being passed on to succeeding generations. His stern yet loving presence will be missed by his children. He loved being a grandfather and embodied the adoring, playful, and guiding “grandpa.” His grandchildren were able to reach beneath his hardened exterior, allowing a tender, loving, and playful man to emerge, creating cherished experiences by so many people. These moments, forever treasured, will be missed. The true testament to Thomas’ lasting legacy was evidenced over the last year and during the final moments of his life, as his entire family remained united in providing care, support, and resources, as well as surrounding his bed during his final moments on earth. The family that he guided remains strong and united, honoring him by ensuring that spirit never ceases.
Thomas is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Joanne Mary, his children and their families: James Gall (Holly), Gerald Gall, Terri Slabaugh (Brian), Andrew Gall (Susan), Tracy DeLamielleure (Terry) and Thomas Gall, Jr. (Rachel).
