Wayne Spencer Vaught passed away on April 18, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Vaught; daughters, Meggin (Edward) and Lauren; son, David (Marnie). His grandchildren Krystyn (Sam), Caleb, Iszabella, Peyton, Dylan. His great grandchildren Syenna, Sahrena, and Sammy. Wayne is also survived by his brother Max, his loving aunt Betty (Larry) and cousin Elonne.
Wayne was born on July 5, 1948 in Detroit. He began working at an early age, later perfecting his craft, first in sales and then partnering in his own mortgage company. He did a stint in the Marines, but because of health issues, could no longer progress in the service. He married Bobbie on August 18, 1973, and would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.
He was an avid member of the Detroit Lions Club for many years, partaking in all of the Lions activities, including annual white cane week and various volunteer positions. He was nominated and served as president of the Northeast Chapter. He had finally retired due to major health issues, but this didn’t stop him from the second love of his life - something called golf. He went on to take many prize winning tournaments, including second place in Las Vegas, which won him and his team members quite a prestigious award. He then went on to play various courses, in not only Michigan, but Arizona and Florida as well.
Wayne was resilient in the face of previous illness, never giving up, and always striving and determined to face adversity head-on. He and his wife moved to lower northern Michigan, where he enjoyed family, friends, and occasionally a glass of Tanqueray! One of the last things he did before his body began to wear down, knowing how much Bobbie loved animals, including horses and especially dogs, was to adopt a Bichon Irise with a congenital defect who was not going to make it unless the pup had surgery. “Braveheart” is now 10 months old and striving. Wayne’s beloved Bulldog Billie, black lab Al, and Ruby, their adoptive mutt knows someone very special is missing.
Wayne has given his wife a lifetime of beautiful memories, and she along with his beloved family will continue to carry on as he would want them too. “What a class act you are dear husband. See you sometime in the future.”
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 2-8 PM, with a scripture service at 7 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI.
