Alex was born on August 25, 1924 in Kerman, California to George Schneider and Mary P. Schneider, both Russian German immigrants from the small community along the Volga river in Russia. They came to Fresno in 1912 and settled in Fresno, California, where my dad had a job sweeping streets in Fresno. I started my schooling in 1929 at Kirk Grammar School. From there we moved to Selma, California, and I attended Terry Grammar School. In 1935 we moved back towards Kerman, where I attended Floyd Grammar School and Kerman Grammar School before attending Kerman High School. There I completed my Freshman year.
After my schooling, I worked on the farm with my dad until I was 18 years old. Over the years I worked in the oil field for 5 years, the fertilizer field for 12 years, and then in the irrigation field for 25 years. I retired on January 18, 1987
I was preceded in death by my father George Schneider and my mother Mary Schneider. I was also preceded by 3 sisters, Elma, Hilda, and Freda, as well as 4 brothers, George, Henry, Walter, and Pete Schneider. I have 1 granddaughter, Paula Myra and 1 great grandson. I was also proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.
