Faye was born on the 29th of June 1919 in Asher, OK to Paul and May Horton. She was the 1st born daughter of 4 girls; Margie, Mozelle, Betty and their older brother, Glen. She grew up in Asher and as a young teenage girl she met and married Samuel Coffey.
After a short stay in Kansas, where their 1st daughter, Joyce was born, they headed for California. During WWII, Faye worked in the shipyards of Richmond, CA as a welder to help in the war effort. Once the war ended Faye and Sam were able to buy Coffey’s Hardware in downtown Clovis. In 1948 the family welcomed their second daughter, Linda.
Faye and Sam were avid horsemen and spent weeks backpacking on horseback in the Sierra Nevada’s. Faye was an independent woman who loved antiques, oil painting, sewing and yard sales. She worked for Clovis Unified School District for 27 years as a school bus driver. She is still fondly remembered by the hundreds of students who rode her bus as “Mrs. Coffey” with her sweet smile and quiet demeanor.
In 1978, her husband of 43 years passed away suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 64 years. Over 9 years later she met her second husband, Robert Johansen. Bob was the second love of her life and at the time of her death they had been married over 25 years. Their love of dancing and traveling in their RV were the joys of their union.
Faye is survived by her husband, Robert Johansen, her daughters Joyce and her husband Rudy Biglione, Linda and her husband James Babcock, stepdaughter Sharon and her husband Jim Shields, her grandchildren Terri and her husband Alex Sharpton, Randy and his wife Lisa Biglione, Brandi Babcock, and Christian Babcock, great grandchildren Ryan, Bianca, & Tara Biglione, Ethan & Madison Babcock-Barrie, & Kolbey & Vance Babcock, and great great grandchildren Parker & Elias Biglione.
