My dad Nick Delgado went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully on Saturday, July 23rd, 2022 at home with his wonderful wife Ruth and grandson Nickolas by his side. He was born in Dividend, Utah on December 6, 1929 to Alejo and Tiburcia Delgado.
Nick was one of 13 children. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1948. After graduating he immediately enlisted in the U.S. Marines where he served faithfully for 21 years! He met the love of his life, Ruth Garcia in 1959 in San Francisco and waited patiently until she finally said yes in October of 1962! They were married on Treasure Island (San Francisco) on November 3, 1962.
Nick retired from the Marines in 1969 so he could spend more time with his wife and two kids- Nickolas and Ruthann. Nickolas was born on January 16, 1966 and Ruthann was born. Nick loved his family very much and it was obvious to those that knew him. He was a very committed husband and father to his family and to his church. It was very common to see him helping put away tables and chairs after a church event. He was a committed usher, greeter and member at Fresno First Baptist Church. He loved watching his son and daughter perform and compete at their school events. Even when they attended different schools! It didn’t matter, he was going to support his kids!
When the grandkids came into his life, his commitment to family grew even stronger! Always putting his bride Ruth 1st, his grandkids became a huge joy and priority in his life. From Taylor, Nickolas, Trevor, Makenna, Kelsey, Tabitha and Brookelynn, he loved watching their events, attending birthdays, holiday gatherings and just hanging out with them! He was always positive and kind, never saying anything negative about anyone. He was the ultimate encourager.
He is survived by his beautiful bride of almost 60 years Ruth Delgado, children Nickolas Delgado and his family- wife Michele and grandkids- Nickolas, Makenna, Kelsey and Brookelynn, his daughter Ruthann LaParl and her family- husband Richard LaParl and grandkids- Taylor, Trevor and Tabitha, his sister Mary Delgado and brothers Ross Delgado, Jesse Delgado and Nash Delgado Jr. As well as many nieces and nephews.
His grandson Nickolas Delgado will have the honor to officiate his service. Military honors presented by the Marines.
A Memorial Service for Nickolas will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM at New Hope Community Church, 4620 East Nees Avenue, Clovis, California 93611.
