A proud veteran, Peter served his country in the Vietnam War and faced significant combat during his time overseas, an experience that deeply affected him throughout his life.
In 1968, Peter married Pamela Houston, and together they welcomed two children, David (married to Anne-Marie Gouvazé) and Laura (married to James Downes). Though this marriage later ended, Peter's love for his children remained constant. Years later, Peter found love again with his childhood sweetheart, Betty Jean Larese. They were joyfully married in 2012, bringing together their families which included Betty's children, Denise (married to Peter Widmer, deceased) and Anthony (married to Melissa “Missy” Evans). Together, Peter and Betty cherished their combined seven grandchildren: Stefen, Austin, Jaiden, Nicholas, Nina, Lucie and Alex. (Pete and Betty’s other “child” is their dog, Penny, who also misses him very much.)
In his youth, Peter achieved the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout, a testament to his dedication and leadership. As an adult, Pete taught himself to fish and enjoyed freshwater fishing for many years. A lifelong sports fan, Peter coached little league teams, including those of his son. He loved slapstick comedy and saw humor in everyday life, even in the most difficult times. He had a curious and inquisitive mind, finding fascination in unexplained mysteries. In his professional life, Peter worked as a forklift operator. After a life-altering car accident, Peter demonstrated remarkable resilience and entrepreneurial spirit. He channeled his experience into a successful veteran-owned business specializing in forklift training. He authored two training manuals on the subject and dedicated himself to providing expert instruction to companies and individuals across California.
Peter will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his perseverance in the face of adversity, his infectious laughter, his curious spirit, and the deep love he had for his family.
A a celebration of life for Peter will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM at New Hope Community Church, 4620 Nees Avenue, Clovis, California 93611.
