Shirley Lee Rete, age 87, of Clovis, California passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024 at home with her family by her side. She was born in the summer of 1936 to Aaron Otis Deaver and Mary Louisa (Estes) Deaver.
Shirley attended school in Sanger, CA. After graduating high school she worked for the phone company, navigating her way and managed to work the switchboard as a left hander. She married John Rete in 1958 and had two children. Shirley also worked as a clerk for the IRS for over 30 years. She loved history, reading books and most of all her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Teresa Marie Rogers (Paul); and her son David John Rete; her sister Audrey Costa (Frank); and her granddaughters Alysha Straub and Kari Rogers.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Aaron Otis Deaver and Mary Louisa (Estes) Deaver; her husband John Rete; and her siblings Larry Deaver, Russell Deaver and Ronald Deaver.
A visitation for Shirley will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Boice Funeral Home, 308 Pollasky Ave, Clovis, CA 93612.
A funeral service will occur Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Newman Center, 1572 E Barstow Ave, Fresno, CA 93710.
A committal service will follow at Clovis Cemetery District, 305 N Villa Ave, Clovis, CA 93612.
Serving as pallbearers are Paul Rogers, Jeff Deaver, Ken Straub, Jr., Raul Gaona, Paul Rete, Richard Costa and Honorary Pallbearer, Phillip Fuentez.
